workshop support

Each year, PAGES supports a limited number of workshops in the field of paleoenvironmental science, through its Open Call for Proposals. PAGES workshops serve to synthesize information, coordinate on-going research, define new avenues of research, and organize community participation in the implementation of relevant projects. Workshops are generally open to broad community participation, although PAGES also sponsors smaller meetings devoted to the implementation of specific near-term projects, as well as topical working groups to advance specific areas of PAGES-related science.

PAGES support tends to be no more than US$10,000 per workshop, and is generally around US$5,000. It is usually allocated to supporting the travel costs of participants from developing and former eastern block countries. A PAGES workshop grant demonstrates international interest, and can therefore often help organizers obtain national funding.

If you would like to find out more about PAGES workshop support, please read the application guidelines.

The next deadline for PAGES Open Call for Proposals is Sunday, 16 November 2008.
The deadline after that is Sunday, 31 May 2009.

PAGES workshop funds are available thanks to the U.S. and Swiss NSF and NOAA.
