former foci

PAGES former science structure was composed of 5 Foci:

Focus 1: PANASH (Paleoclimate and Environments of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres)
– reconstruct paleoenvironments and paleoclimate along three Pole-Equator-Pole (PEP) terrestrial transects, using a multiproxy data and modeling approach

Focus 2: PAGES/CLIVAR Intersection
– decadal-to-century scale climate variability

Focus 3: IMAGES (International Marine Past Global Changes Study)
IMAGES is the marine program shared between PAGES and SCOR (Scientific Committee on Ocean Research).
– mechanisms and consequences of past climatic changes using ocean sediments

Focus 4: Polar Programs
– paleoclimate and environmental variability in polar regions

Focus 5: Past Ecosystem Processes and Human-Environment Interactions
– interactions between human activities, climate, and environmental processes
