data management

Future progress in understanding climate history will depend increasingly on the provision of well-documented data. Therefore, in addition to providing a set of useful data links, PAGES has initiated the PAGES Databoard. This service is intended to ensure the compatibility and accessibility of available paleo-databases.

PAGES Metadatabases

The metadatabases currently fall into two categories: 1) Regional collections of proxy datasets covering the last 2000 years, and 2) Topical metadatabases. They provide meta-information of proxy sites of different natural and human archives that might be suitable for climate reconstructions. Some of the datasets are freely accessible, others may be provided on request by the corresponding contributor.

Regional metadatabases:

> Arctic2k
> Africa2k
> Aus2k (Australasia)
> LOTRED-SA (South America)
> MedCLIVAR (Mediterranean)

Topical metadatabases:

> Global Monsoon
> PIGS (records covering Past Interglacials)
> LUCIFS (records of fluvial deposits)
> ADOM(records of eolian deposits)
> VARVES
> NICOPP (marine Nitrogen records)

PAGES Paleodata Portal

PAGES is currently developing a paleodata portal that will allow users to search the major international databases from the one website. A test version of the paleodata portal is available here.

External databases

Click here for a comprehensive list of national and international databases, which should serve as a usefull starting point for your online data search. Please help us to improve the list. Send your relevant data links to Anand Chandrasekhar.
