guest scientists

PAGES does many things to try to knit the international, interdisciplinary paleoenvironmental community together. By hosting guest scientists, PAGES hopes to enhance the interaction between the International Project Office and the many researchers involved in PAGES projects. Past guests have come from institutions in Canada, China, Ethiopia, Germany, India, Mexico, Morocco, Russia, South Africa, and the USA, and have ranged from professors and senior researchers to postdocs and PhD students.

Guest scientists have taken on tasks such as hosting workshops, guest-editing topical issues of the PAGES Newsletter, editing books and special issues arising from PAGES activities, developing new initiatives, and enhancing PAGES’ visibility in their home country. PAGES has benefited enormously from their input. In turn, senior visitors have benefited from an opportunity to get away from their home institution for a period to focus on a PAGES project or to develop new interactions and lines of research. Younger scientists have benefited from taking on interesting and challenging tasks that would not normally arise in their work and from making new contacts within the PAGES scientific network.

Although budget constraints usually limit our ability to fund visitors, we provide for the office and computational needs of visitors who come with independent salary support.

If you are interested in spending a sabbatical at PAGES and would like to find out how to apply, please read the application guidelines.
