The IPICS Steering Committee met in Vienna, Austria on 19-20 April 2008. The aim was to endorse the science and outline implementation plans for the priority projects, and to establish groups to oversee the implementation of the projects.

2005
The International Partnerships in Ice Core Sciences II (IPICS II) Workshop "Roadmaps and Pathways to Implementation" was held in Brussels, Belgium on 9-12 October 2005. The main objective of IPICS II, "Roadmaps and Pathways to Implementation", was to discuss the feasibility of the four identified Ice Core Flagship Projects and develop a roadmap and matrix that can be presented to national funding agencies and polar operators for forward planning of potential deep ice and coastal array opportunities.

2004
The International Partnerships in Ice Core Sciences (IPICS) Workshop was supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation and held in Virginia, USA on 13-16 March 2004. Fifty-five scientists, engineers, and funding agency representatives from Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States attended the workshop.
