national science highlight: Gerzensee
Oxygen-isotope stratigraphy from Gerzensee and the combined summer-temperature reconstructions using pollen and chydorid-inferred results. Summer temperatures were estimated for the period of ca. 13,000-10,000 cal. years BP. The cooling at the onset of the Younger Dryas and the warming at the onset of the Holocene were on the order of 2-4°C in summer temperatures. The biotic response follows the oxygen isotope curve closely and thus shows no substantial lag to the climate oscillation.
