PAGES South Africa

Welcome to PAGES South Africa

South Africa's mid-latitude oceanic position with a rich floral, faunal, paleontological and archeological heritage provides diverse but challenging opportunities for establishing records of past environmental change. Although South Africa has a relatively small field of paleoenvironmental researchers, continued progress is maintained through local funding and international collaboration. Several institutions have participated in the PEP III transect of PANASH and other PAGES initiatives. A general review is presented in The Cenozoic of Southern Africa, Oxford University Press, 2000.
