PAGES Poland

Welcome to PAGES Poland

The paleoarchives available in Poland are as rich and diverse as the researchers involved in paleoscience. From the Baltic See to the Tatra Mountains, many paleoresearch projects have been recorded at KBN (State Committee for Scientist Research), the primary funding source in Poland. This national PAGE can thus outline only a small part of the paleoresearch in Poland, but will hopefully provide:

- Collaboration opportunities with researchers within and outside Poland
- A platform for researchers in Poland to share their research

The territory of Poland lies in the Central European Pleistocene periglacial and glacial zone. The study of the Quaternary continental paleoenvironment in this region has a long tradition. In the last few years, classic disciplines such as geomorphology, sedimentology, paleogeography, geoarcheology and paleoecology are being conducted, focusing on multi-proxy reconstructions from the Holocene. Considerable potential also lies in paleolimnological research. Further details on important Polish paleoarchives are available in the biotic and abiotic chapters.
