about PAGES

suggest a new initiative

Although a great many projects have been launched within the PAGES framework, there still remains a lot to be done. PAGES welcomes suggestions for new initiatives from anyone in the international paleoscience community. For more information on how initiatives fit into PAGES research structure, click here.

Initiatives must demonstrate a clear need for facilitation of international or interdisciplinary cooperation to be considered, and must be primarily self-funding. The allocation of PAGES funding is flexible but is roughly equivalent to one workshop per year for the duration of the initiative. In addition, PAGES provides coordination services and access to IPO resources.

To suggest a new initiative, please send a 2-page (max.) proposal including a title, description, objectives, expected output, key participants, 3- to 5-year timeline and details on primary sources of financing to Thorsten Kiefer, PAGES Executive Director. It is often advisable to discuss your proposal with him before submission.

The decision to accept new initiatives is made by the PAGES SSC. Proposals are accepted at any time but are considered at most twice a year at SSC and EXCOM meetings.
